Use of cookies

This description applies to the cookies on the websites operated by PlusTvNews Kft.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a file (a string of data) that can be created by the program displaying the website on the website visitor's computer, mobile phone or other device providing Internet access. The cookie is sent by the web server to the visitor's browser, and then the browser sends it back to the server. Cookies only contain data, that is, they do not contain executable files, viruses, or spy programs (spyware) and do not have access to the data of the user's hard drive. (A cookie is a coded string of data, an access path that can only be interpreted together with the given server. The user's data itself is stored by the server, not the cookie. All websites use cookies.)

What can cookies be used for?

These files make it possible to recognize the device used by the user to surf the Internet, thus displaying relevant content adapted to the user's needs. Such are, for example, pages that can only be accessed with a username and password, which would not work without cookies. Cookies make browsing easier for the user and help our website provide a more convenient service. Thus, for example, the cookies used to prepare the anonymous visitor statistics of our pages, which provide valuable information about the user's page usage habits. Using the obtained statistical results, we can shape the structure and content of the page according to the needs, all while preserving the anonymity of the users.

What cookies do we use?

videoportre.hu uses two types of cookies: temporary and permanent. Temporary cookies are temporary files that remain on the user's device until the end of the logged-in period or until the application (browser) is closed. Permanent cookies are present on the user's device for the time specified in their parameter or until they are manually deleted.

What do we use cookies for?

During a visit, the website may place cookies on the user's internet device for the following purposes:

Recording the fact of login

Using the chat window

Website performance measurement

Browsing analysis

Do cookies contain personal data?

Most cookies do not require any personal data to work effectively. Accordingly, in the vast majority of cases, the cookie does not identify the given user. If we do collect personal data during the use of certain cookies, we use them only for the purpose of facilitating the use of certain functions for the user. For example, we make it possible for your browser to remember the login data. These data are stored in such a way that unauthorized persons cannot access them, and the cookie itself does not contain personal data, only an access key to the data stored on the server, but also in coded form.

Deleting cookies

By default, the browser programs used to access websites allow cookies to be placed on the device. Information on the management of cookies can be found in the browser settings. These settings can be changed so that the browser blocks the automatic handling of cookies or sends a notification to the user in each case if a cookie has been sent to the device. It is important to know that banning/restricting the use of cookies may negatively affect the operation of certain functions of the site

Why are cookies important on the Internet?

Nowadays, cookies are essential for the efficient operation of the Internet. They help the user to browse comfortably through the needs and interests they have learned, and they store data without which some functions of the websites would not be able to function. Popular social networking sites (Facebook, Google+, etc.) and online services (such as Gmail) simply cannot function without the use of cookies.

Safety and data security factors

Cookies are NOT viruses! Cookies store simple text, they do not consist of code snippets, so they cannot be run, therefore they cannot be considered programs, and therefore not viruses either.

However, it is important to point out that cookies can also be used for negative purposes, as they store information about the user's needs and navigation history. Through cookies, information continuously flows between the website and the browser in both directions.

Customize your browser's cookie settings!

All modern browsers allow you to customize the settings of the browser regarding cookies, so that in addition to the use of cookies, it is also safe while providing you with a comfortable Internet experience. If you are the only one using your computer, you can set a longer expiration time for recording browsing history and storing personal data.

If you share your computer with others (for example, in an Internet cafe), it is worth deleting the data recorded by the browser after each use, or use an "incognito" window for browsing. In this way, you have the opportunity to visit pages that place cookies on your computer in a safe environment.

Regularly update anti-spyware programs and virus scanners! In many cases, anti-spyware software monitors browsing in real time and warns if the user wants to load an unsafe page.

A significant proportion of attacks take place through browser security holes. The older the version of a browser, the more such weak points are found in it. Always install the latest version of your browser! It is worth checking at least once a month to see if there is a newer version of the browser.
